For counsellors working with immigrants, it is essential to first understand how and why people immigrate, and what challenges they face once they are here. The term “immigrants” could cover a very diverse population of various categories of persons who move to their host countries for very different reasons and under very different circumstances. 

Under the supervision of the Services Coordinator, the migrant counselling provides guidance to students, staff, parents, and the administration in matters pertaining to migrant pupil personnel services. The migrant counselor will support all migrant students and families, building positive relationships and providing continual support.

Migration Counselling includes

• Keeping up-to-date with alterations to immigration laws.
• Meeting with prospective and extant clients to gauge which services they require.
• Providing clients with all pertinent documentation.
• Assisting clients with the completion of paperwork, and ensuring that this is submitted on time.
• Helping clients to find appropriate shipping solutions.
• Preparing and providing invoices for your services.
